~MiD-Sem BreAk~

Saturday,31st of january 2009...


On 24th january, i was on my way to went back home for the first time for mid-sem break after i've been studying at uitm for about a month..i felt so happy and excited...When i first arrived at the puduraya station,i was scared actually bcuz i never been there before and i was afraid that i might get lost on my way to masjid jamek to get on the lrt...thank god that i've met someone to guide me to masjid jamek lrt station..the person also went to uitm segamat to further her study there...and she is also a part one student..if not because of her i may not have the chance to see my family's faces again...i'm very grateful to u mira...On the first day of my holiday at home, my friends had ask me to meet them at mid valley. This is our first reunion after about a year since we've met each other..At the reunion,we mostly talked about our new study place and about our new life as a college students..we also joke around a lot too...i really enjoyed my time with them although its only for a couple of hours..i hope we will have another reunion on my next break...amin..

Like always,mr.malik will never let his students went back home without an assignment..For this mid-sem break he had ask the class to write about what he had thought before in the blog. I think, if mr.malik didn't give this assignment maybe i won't ever open my blog again and let it rotten...although i say like that,but once i start blogging i find that i enjoy writing the blog..believe it or not,it is true..Enough with that,lets start with mr malik's work. I've learn a lot of new stuff in his class. He had thought me how to convert binary to decimals and vice versa..sounds like mathematics right,but no it's not..it is csc119..I need to know this thing bcuz as a cs student i need to know the computer language which is the binary or bit as the computer is to stubborn to learn english or malay..so i need to give in and learn its language..thank god that language only involve 0 and 1...huhu...Besides that,i also learn the 2nd and 3rd chapter of csc119 subject..

chapter 2 is about

The Internet and Web

• Internet was launched in 1969 with Advanced Research Project Agency Network (ARPANET).The internet is a large network that connects together smaller networks all over the globe.


• Web is introduced in 1992 at Center for European Nuclear Research (CERN),the web provides multimedia interface to Internet resources.


• Common use of the Internet and the Web include communication, shopping, searching, entertainment and education.

Access

• Internet service providers (ISP) are connected to the Internet.The most widely used ISPs are national and wireless.Connection technologies include dial-up,DSL,cable and wireless modems.


• Browsers are programs that provide access to Web resources.Some related terms are URLs,HTML and applets.

Communication

• E-mail(electronic mail) is the transmission of electronic messages.


• Instant messaging(IM) extends e-mail to support live communication with friends.


• Social networking helps to connect individuals to one another.

Search tools

• Search Engines locate information on the Web.


• Metasearch Engines submit to several search engines simultaneously.


• Specialized Search Engines focus on subject-specific Web sites

Electronic Commerce/e-commerce

• e-commerce is the buying and selling of goods over the Internet. Three basic types of e-commerce are business-to-consumer(B2C), business-to-business and consumer-to-consumer.

Web Utilities

• Web-based Applications free users from owning and storing application.


• FTP(file transfer protocol) is an Internet standard for transferring files.


• Plug-ins are automatically loaded and operate as part of browser.


• Filters are used by parents and organizations to block certain sites and to monitor use of the Internet and the Web.


• Internet Security Suite is a collection of utility programs designed to protect the privacy and security on the internet.

Chapter 3 is about

Application software

• Two basic types of software are system software and application software.


• Common features of of application programs are user interface,windows,menus and etc..

Word Processor

• Word processor allow us to create,edit,save and print text-based documents.

Spreadsheet

• Spreadsheet programs are used to organize,analyze and graph numeric data.

Database Management System (DBMS)

• A database is a collection of related data.


• DBMS/database manager structures a database and provides tools for entering, editing and retrieving data.

Presentation Graphics

• Presentation graphics combine a variety of visual objects to create attractive,visually interesting presentations.They are excellent tools to communicate a message and to persuade people.

Intergrated Packages

• An integrated package/personal or home software is a single program that provides the functionality of several application packages.

Software Suites

• A software suite is a collection of individual application packages sold together like productivity suites(business suite),personal suite(home suites),specialized suites and utilities suites.

That's all for chapter 3,now i need to prepare myself for mr.Malik's test...what a headache...may Allah bless me and my friends this wednesday...
